Authorities announced that a truck ran over a 40-year-old pedestrian in the Bronx on Sunday before fleeing on Friday night, leaving the victim lying on the asphalt, where he was hit again by a passing SUV.
After the deadly event that occurred at 7:30 p.m., a crutch and blood stains could be seen on the road, at the intersection of East 138th Street and Bruckner Boulevard.
According to the police, The victim was crossing the street outside the marked crosswalk when the truck hit him, throwing him to the pavement.Detached York Post reported.
A 61-year-old driver of a 2015 Honda CR-V was heading in the same direction as the truck and did not have time to brake before hitting the man who was lying on the ground.
Paramedics quickly responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call and took the victim to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
So far no arrests have been made in this regard and the investigation is ongoing.according to New York Police Department officials.
