The city of New York The cold begins to let go and, almost automatically, the desire appears to lie down on the grass again, share something to eat and listen to music without rushing.

Taking advantage of that change of mood, Bryant Park revealed the complete schedule of Picnic Performances for 2026a calendar that will begin on May 28 and that arrives loaded with free proposals in full midtown.

The event has become one of the most beloved events for those who live in New York and also by those who visit the city in the warm months. This year it repeats the formula that mixes music, dance, opera, family activities and collaborations with cultural institutions that have been marking the local scene for decades. All with a pure setting that, when night falls, ends up being part of the charm.

What the stage will bring this year

The season starts with Jazzmobile on May 28which this year will feature Wycliffe Gordon and Chums. A day later the New York Metropolis Opera will arrive with “American Classics”, while its second performance, the August 7will be a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald featuring Grammy winner Latonia Moore.

The month of June will move to the beat of three nights of dance curated by Tiffany Rea-Fisher with companies including Carolyn Dorfman Dance, vildwerk. and a hip-hop closer presented by It’s Showtime NYC. Later, the World Song Institute will celebrate the 40th anniversary of “World of Percussion” with figures such as Pedrito Martínez and Batalá.

Joe’s Pub will take the stage June 18 with a Pride Month double bill bringing together Joan As Police Girl and Britton & The Sting. June 19 It will be the turn of The Unsung Collective with a presentation in honor of Juneteenth that will include works by Jessie Bernard Law Sir Bernard Law and H. Leslie Adams.

In JulyCarnegie Hall Citywide will return with a residency from the 3rd to the 31st, highlighting an Independence Day performance with “The Knights,” Broadway artist Aisha Jackson and the NYC Ska Orchestra.

August will arrive with a variety ranging from the New York Guitar Competition (14 and 15)passing through the new Choir Competition the 21st and the Emerging Song Competition on the 22nd. The Accordion Competition will also return the 28th with artists like Jourdan Thibodeaux and Saami Brothers. For families, Sunset Circus will offer a show on the 29th.

The final stretch will include, already in Septemberprograms presented by Asian American Arts Alliance with Grace Kelly and Ashni; the Brass Competition on day 4 with New Breed Brass Band; and Dance Party All-Stars on the 10th with salsa and swing classes before performances by Alfredo De La Fé All Star Band and the George Gee Swing Orchestra. Closing will be on September 11 with a special tribute for the 25th anniversary of the attacks.

How can you enjoy it?

The park will provide blankets and chairs on a first-come, first-served basis, so there’s no need to prepare too much, just choose which feature fits your plans.

You can bring food from home or visit the stalls selected by Hester Boulevard Gorgeous. For those not in town, fourteen of the performances will be available as free streams through bryantpark.org, with excerpts shown on PBS.
