Texas authorities are investigating the discovery of four people dead inside a home in Houstonin what was preliminarily classified as a “murder-suicide” case involving a couple and their two minor children.
The fatal incident was reported on Monday, after the family’s babysitter asked police for a welfare check after she could not contact them. When they entered the home, the officers found the bodies of a man, a woman and two children, ages 4 and 8, respectively, who had gunshot wounds, local media KHOU reported.
To date, the Police Department has not formally identified the deceased nor determined who fired the shots. although they maintain the hypothesis of a violent domestic incident.
What did the community say after the tragic discovery?
Residents of the area expressed their astonishment at the event. A neighbor told local media KHOU that the family had recently moved to the neighborhood and were regularly seen walking around the area.
“It’s very sad,” said a neighbor whose identity was not disclosed to KHOU. “I feel so sorry for the young children and the family, and we don’t know all the details. “I’m sure a lot of people know more than us, but it’s a real tragedy when something like this happens.”
Likewise, a resident of the area told ABC 13 that the mother was pregnant. However, this information has not been corroborated by the forensic report or by police investigators.
Houston police continue investigations at the current crime scene to clarify the reasons behind the event.
