The definitive victory bore the stamp of two of the team’s pillars this campaign. Marcus Thuram was in charge of opening the scoring, setting up a victory that Henrikh Mkhitaryan would seal in the final stages of the match. With this result, Inter seals an impeccable record in the league, where Thuram has emerged as one of the most decisive pieces of Chivu’s scheme.
A tribute to Kobe Bryant
Beyond what happened on the pitch, the image of the day occurred in the locker room. Marcus Thuram, great admirer of basketball, wanted to pay tribute to NBA legend Kobe Bryant recreating one of his most emblematic photographs.
The French striker imitated Bryant’s pose after winning the 2001 Finals with the Lakers, appearing in a reflective and deeply relieved attitude next to the trophy.
Accompanying the image on his social networks, Thuram sent a strong message to the fans: “The tricolor has returned home and will never leave us again.” This gesture underlines the competitive mentality of the 28-year-old attacker, who has had a stellar season with 13 goals in 28 league games.
The team now has its sights set on next May 13, the date on which They will face Lazio in the Coppa Italia final. A victory in Rome would mean the national double for Chivu’s project, before facing a summer transfer market in which the club is expected to strengthen the squad to assault the Champions League next season.
