Actress Meryl Streep praised Stanley Tucci, her co-star in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” after the actor was honored along with Emily Blunt, another cast member of the sequel, with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Streep, one of the most respected actresses in Hollywood, took the podium to give a speech in which she chose Tucci, her friend for decades, and highlighted “the elegance within his heterosexuality.”
“Stanley has an elegance in his heterosexuality, an undeniable heterosexuality, that is courageous. It is not that heterosexuality is better than any other sexual orientation, but that it is about that elegance, a true, spontaneous, natural elegance, without artifice. Sometimes it is more difficult for heterosexual men“said Streep, according to Of Us.
The actress described him as “sophisticated, clever and funny,” and praised his acting ability. “He always finds something authentic and surprising in each character he plays. He transforms the interpretation of characters into a field subject for a protagonist,” he said.
Streep honored the friendship she has cultivated with Stanley Tucci for decades and was excited to work with him again. “I’m in love with you, just like everyone else. It’s impossible not to love Stanley Tucci. I’ve known you longer as a friend than as a scene partner. We’ve been through difficult times and wonderful times together, and I love you very much,” she said.
Streep added: “I’ve loved working with Stanley, I’ve done it often, and I’m ready to do it again whenever you lift your fancy little finger.”
Meryl Streep criticizes the “Marvelization” of movies
Actress Meryl Streep questioned the tendency in cinema to include characters with less nuance, with a more defined style of heroes and villains in the style of Wonder, the successful superhero franchise.
Meryl Streep attended the Hits Radio morning show along with Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, who are part of the cast of the film “The Devil Wears Prada 2”. The Oscar-winning actress criticized the lack of personalities in cinema with real nuances, as is the case with her character Miranda Priestly in the long-awaited sequel to the 2006 hit.
“I feel like that’s how you get a realistic view. I think now we tend to turn movies into a Wonder-esque thing. We have the villains and the good guys, and it’s very boring,” Streep said.
The actress referred to the complexity of some characters, which makes it more interesting. For example, her character in “The Devil Wears Prada 2” in which she plays a strict director of a fashion magazine who faces vulnerabilities.
“The really interesting thing about life is that some heroes have flaws and some villains are human, interesting and have their own strengths. That’s what I like about this movie. It’s more complex.”
