By Maria Marin

“There is no worse blind man than he who does not want to see.” This old saying fits like a glove to many women who deceive themselves with pretexts so they don’t have to act or change. Here are the most common lies women tell themselves:

I’ll do it tomorrow: This is the most standard! We all procrastinate at some point. The problem is when it becomes a habit. Whether it’s going back to school, starting a business, or leaving a bad relationship, they settle for the expression: “I’ll do it later.” The best time to start a project, make a change, or end a bad situation is today, not tomorrow!

A little more won’t hurt me: We use this lie in many areas of life such as: “one more teaspoon of that cake is not going to kill me”, “buying one more pair of shoes is not going to leave me bankrupt”. That little bit more of anything that doesn’t suit you can harm you. If you are tempted to do something that is not good for you, have willpower and say “it is not good for me!” Whenever you want a little more of something, make sure it’s a little more health, patience, or a little more love.

I’m confused: You use this lie every time you have to make an important decision but you don’t dare to do it. An example in love is when a woman has to decide whether or not to stay in a relationship. The fear of making the wrong decision prompts any woman to say: “I don’t know what to do…I’m confused.” The antidote to fear is to have faith that the decision you make will be the right one.

Women tell themselves these lies due to a lack of self-confidence. Those who have security face the truth, that’s why I encourage you to be honest and leave the lies aside. I hope you pay attention to these tips, and if not, there is another saying that will fit you like a glove: “there is no worse deaf person than he who does not want to hear.”
