A senior Iranian military commander stated this Saturday that A resumption of the war between Iran and the United States is “doubtless” after President Donald Trump said he was not satisfied with a new Iranian negotiating proposal.
“The Armed Forces are fully prepared for any new adventure or folly by the Americans,” said the deputy chief of inspection of the Jatam al Anbiya Central Headquarters, Basic Mohamad Yafar Asadi, according to the Fars agency, linked to the Revolutionary Guard.
Asadi further stated that The actions and statements of the American officials have mainly a media character and seek to “get out of the quagmire that they themselves have created”.
These statements come after Trump last night considered Iran’s latest proposal to reach a peace agreement unsatisfactory.
The official Iranian agency IRNA reported on Thursday that Iran had delivered a new proposal to Pakistan, a mediator in peace negotiations with the United States.
Tehran already presented a proposal last week to Washington, through Islamabad, in which it offered a negotiation in several phases, initially focused on the end of the war and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz by both sides, leaving the issue of the Iranian nuclear program for a later stage.
American media reported that this proposal did not convince Trump to postpone negotiations on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.
The parties agreed on April 8 to an initial two-week truce after 39 days of clashes, which was later extended indefinitely to give room for negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
However, Direct talks between the two remain stalled due to Iran’s refusal to sit down to negotiate while the United States maintains the naval encirclement of its ports and ships.a measure with which it seeks to block the Iranian economy.
Iran, for its part, maintains the disruption of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, the strategic route through which 20% of the world’s oil transited, which has skyrocketed the price of crude oil.
