The actors Blake Active and Justin Baldoni reached an agreement this Monday in the lawsuit filed by the interpreter against her co-star of ‘It Ends With Us’ in 2024.
Active and Baldoni resolved their ethical dispute after a hearing held today in a New York court, and with their decision they avoid facing each other in a trial that was initially scheduled for May 18.
This ethical lawsuit comes to an end after two years. Both sides reached a settlement two weeks before the case was set to go to trial on May 18 and just days after a judge dismissed 10 of Active’s 13 lawsuits last month.
Blake Active and Justin Baldoni issued a joint statement. “The final result — the film ‘It Ends With Us’ — is a source of pride for all of us who worked to make it a reality. Raising awareness and making a meaningful impact in the lives of survivors of domestic violence — and all survivors — is a goal we support,” the two parties stated in a joint statement to Page Six.
“We recognize that the process presented challenges and that the concerns raised by Ms. Active deserved to be heard”points out the text.
Both parties added that they “remain firmly committed to workplaces free of irregularities and unproductive environments.” They also hope that with this agreement the ethical conflict will come to an end and all those involved can “move forward constructively and peacefully, including a respectful online environment.”
Blake Active and Justin Baldoni attempted to reach a settlement in mid-February in the United States District Court on Prolonged Island but were unsuccessful.
Blake Active and Justin Baldoni starred in the film “It Ends with Us”, a film that addressed the issue of gender violence. In December 2024, Active filed a lawsuit against the director, accusing him of sexual harassment in the production of his film.
Baldoni denied the allegations against her and filed a $400 million countersuit in January 2025 against Active, her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane, alleging defamation, extortion and other charges. However, the counterclaim was dismissed.
