The young Mexican prospect Karim López will be in the 2026 NBA Draft Mix after receiving the invitation, a step that can bring him closer to the NBA.

Karim López, 19-year-old forward with a height of 6 feet, 9 inchesis among the 73 prospects invited to the event that is held as a test before the NBA Draft.

This year the draft will take place on June 23 and 24, while the Mix 2026 takes place between May 10 and 17. In addition, López also received an invitation to the NBA G-League Draft Mix that will take place from May 8 to 10.

lÓpez is among the highest-rated prospects, according to ESPN’s Mammoth Board. The Mexican forward has just played the last two seasons in the NBL, Australia’s professional league, with the Original Zealand Breakers.

Karim López is getting closer to the dream of playing in the NBA

The 19-year-old Mexican forward recounted, during an interview with ESPN, his dream of reaching the NBA, something that began from a very young age.

“Playing in the NBA has been my dream and my goal throughout my life,” said López. “Honestly, ever since I can remember. I was probably about five years old and I was drawing pictures of myself playing in the NBA… It’s something very special, you know, to be in this position right now.”

López has gained experience in the NBA with the Breakers team, and for him it has been a great learning experience.

“[La NBL] It was a great learning experience during both years; “It was a magnificent chapter of my life,” said López. “I think that once I got back to full health, [esta temporada] took the right direction. Obviously, I would have liked to qualify for the playoffs, but winning the Ignite Cup was a huge achievement. “I am really satisfied with the experience acquired and with all the preparation received.”

López could become the first player born in Mexico to be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft.
