Ruben Rocha Moya, governor of Sinaloastated that the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaumexpressed his support after the accusations announced by the Department of Justice from the United Stateswhich link him to alleged crimes related to drug trafficking.

The governor responded affirmatively when asked by journalists about the presidential endorsement and pointed out that he had already spoken with her after the case was publicly disseminated.

Accusations of the American justice system

The statements come from the United States Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New Yorkrk, who accuses Rocha already other Sinaloa officials of alleged participation in a conspiracy linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.

The case also includes nine other state and municipal officials, to whom possible acts related to protection of criminal group operations, perfect information management and facilitation drug trafficking to the United States in exchange for bribes.

Among the names mentioned are the former Secretary of Public Security of Sinaloa, Gerardo Merida Sanchez; the mayor of Culiacán, Juan de Dios Gámez Mendivil; and the commander of the municipal police, Juan Valenzuela Millán.

Governor’s position regarding the accusations

Rocha assured that he is “calm” and affirmed that he will continue to serve as governor of Sinaloa.

The official maintained that he is focused on his work and asked that the situation “be channeled,” while ensuring that he will not leave office.

He also reported that he maintains his routine agenda and called on the population to remain calm.

Before his statements to the media, the governor rejected the accusations on social networks, where he described them as unfounded.

Furthermore, he categorically denied the allegations and stated that it is a “slander” and an “attack” directed against the political movement led by Claudia Sheinbaum.
