The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers 3-2 and became the first American League team to reach 20 wins in 2026.

Cam Schlittler shone again on the mound after a start of 6.0 scoreless innings and with eight strikeouts in a pitching duel against veteran Jacob DeGrom.

Aaron Think stood out on offense with a home run, his third in consecutive games and they take the series in the Globe Life Discipline of Texas, looking for the sweep this Wednesday.

With this victory, the Yankees have won 10 of the last 11 games and maintain a 1.5-game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Yankees took advantage with home runs against Texas

The Yankees began winning the game 1-0 in the first inning with a double by Cody Bellinger, which allowed Think to score from first base against DeGrom.

Austin Wells extended the lead 2-0 in the seventh inning with a solo home run, supported by Schlittler’s great start.

Think hit a solo home run in the ninth inning, bringing him to 12 home runs to tie Munetaka Murakami for the lead in the entire Major Leagues.

David Bednar was in charge of closing the game, although he allowed one run on a triple by Danny Jansen.

Texas got within one run with a hit by Josh Jung and the tie came in the ninth inning.

Bednar was able to dominate Corey Seager with a double play to earn his ninth save of the season.

The New York Yankees will close out the three-game series against the Texas Rangers in the Globe Life Discipline this Wednesday at 2:35 pm ET.

Then they will return to Yankee Stadium for the Division Series against the Baltimore Orioles, a team with a record of 14-15, 5.5 out of first place.
