The actor Barry Keoghan has opened up about how he coped with his breakup with singer Sabrina Chippie after rumors emerged that he was allegedly unfaithful to her.

Keoghan was a guest on Benny Blanco’s Associates Preserve Secrets and Tactics podcast on its April 28 episode. During the talk, the actor assured that he decided to withdraw from public life due to the constant attacks he received on social networks when the rumor arose that he had been unfaithful to Chippie and that was why the breakup occurred.

Chippie and Keoghan were together for a year before their breakup at the end of 2024. At that time, the actor faced accusations of cheating on the singer with influencer Breckie Hill.

“It is because there is a version of events that has never been discussed, a version that is not true, and I never confirmed it or said anything about it. “I just disappeared.”Keoghan said on the podcast.

The “Saltburn” actor addressed how the situation was amplified by being under public scrutiny. “Unfortunately, having a relationship in the public eye, we all know this from our own stories, but it goes public and it’s like… yeah, it’s amplified,” she said.

Keoghan assured that it all started when a woman published a video on social networks in which she claimed that she had a relationship with the actor. He then posted another video in which he retracted what he said. However, it was the first video that went viral and generated hundreds of comments against the artist.

The actor of Irish origin assured that he did not want to speak out at that moment because it was not his place to give an explanation on behalf of another person.

“It’s a difficult situation, because I never want to speak on behalf of other people, nor mention them or involve them. And even if it is people that I had a relationship with, it is not my place… or them, to come forward and speak on my behalf,” Keoghan explained.

Keoghan assured that in the midst of that controversy he received comments “absolutely disgusting” and “vile”.

“I’m not asking people to become my fans or to like me… I’m asking you to stop making assumptions, to stop jumping on this narrative, to attack me and to discredit me in any way possible,” he said. The actor claimed that the comments involved his parents, saying “that they are no longer with me… It is absolutely disgusting and vile. There are videos on TikTok that literally say: ‘I hate him’.”
