FC Barcelona took an almost definitive step towards the LaLiga title after beating Getafe CF 0-2 with authority at the Coliseum, in a match that combined craftsmanship, patience and punch in key moments.

The Catalan team knew how to extend the lead after Right Madrid’s setback, without despairing to find the goal.

In the final stretch of the first half, an error at the start of Getafe was punished with surgical precision. Pau Cubarsí anticipated the play, Pedri read the moment and with a good pass left Fermín López alone, who defined with cold blood in the heads-up to open the scoring.

That goal completely changed the scenario. Getafe, who this season have not been able to come back from behind in games, were forced to move forward, leaving spaces that Barcelona knew how to manage intelligently in the second half.

Rashford settled the victory for Barcelona

The Barça’s preserve an eye on was absolute after the break. With Pedri as the axis and the entry of Frenkie de Jong to reinforce possessionthe Catalan team slowed down the pace of the match, neutralized the rival’s direct play and waited for the right moment to strike again.

The sentence came in the closing section. After a key defensive action inside the area, the ball ended up at the feet of Robert Lewandowski, who launched Marcus Rashford into space. The English striker did not spare his speed and defined forcefully to seal the final 0-2.

The result leaves Barcelona with an 11-point advantage over Right Madrid, with just 15 to play, a distance that in competitive terms borders on irreversible.

Barcelona will face Osasuna on the next date as a visitor and then host Right Madrid at home, a duel that could give them the title against their biggest rival at the Camp Nou.
