The public of Stagecoach Competition in California received an unexpected surprise when Tom Hanks appeared among the attendees to cheer up his son Chet Hankswho performed with his band Something Out West. The moment was recorded in a video that ended up spreading online due to the spontaneity and naturalness with which the actor enjoyed the cloak.

The scene was captured by a competition attendee and she later ended up giving her testimony of the moment to “Folks”: “10 minutes into the show, I noticed it and got very excited”said. “I couldn’t believe he was standing right next to me! He was enjoying seeing his son.”

A contagious spirit in the middle of the competition

Hanks, 69 years old and recognized for decades of cinema, looked relaxed inside the Toyota Music Den. Wearing blue jeans, a tan jacket and a hat, he followed the rhythm of “You Greater Scamper,” the song the group performed with Chet and his partner Drew Arthur in front. No one seemed to expect the actor to mingle with the audience in that way.

The image of Hanks singing in the crowd showed an everyday side of the actor. In this scenario, there is only a happy father seeing his son on stage.

Something Out West had already been gaining attention since their 2025 music video for “You Greater Scamper.”inspired by Forrest Gump. Among the most curious details are the classic bench with the box of chocolates and a shrimp boat called Jenny. Hanks himself even made a special appearance alongside Chet, which gave a very emotional touch to the project.

In addition to music, Chet continues to expand his acting career with his participation in the series Netflix “Working Point”.
