The actor Jacob Elordi had to withdraw as a jury from the film competition of Cannes 2026 after he suffered a broken foot, as reported by Web declare Six.

The organization had to look for a replacement for Jacob Elordi for the seventy-nine edition of the contest, which will be held from May 12 to 23. Being a juror at Cannes involves participating in a series of activities including film screenings and walking along the Croisette to attend dinners, press conferences, photo sessions and parties. Participating in all of these activities with reduced mobility can make logistics difficult.

The jury for the seventy-ninth edition of Cannes is chaired by South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook, whose long career in the competition includes films such as “Oldboy,” “Thirst” and “Decision to Proceed.”

The rest of the jury will be made up of actress Demi Moore, director Chloé Zhao, Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, Ethiopian-Irish actress Ruth Negga, Belgian director and screenwriter Laura Wandel, Chilean filmmaker Diego Céspedes, Ivorian-American actor Isaach De Bankolé and Scottish screenwriter Paul Laverty.

In recent years Jacob Elordi has become one of the most coveted and popular artists in cinema. He rose to fame with his role in the film “The kissing booth” and then consolidated his acting career with his role in the HBO series “Euphoria,” which premiered its final season in mid-April.

However, in 2025 Jacob Elordi played the most important role of his career when he played the famous monster from Mery Shelly’s novel, “Frankenstein” in the adaptation by Mexican director Guillermo del Toro.

Elordi was nominated in the “Best Supporting Actor” category in the last edition of the 2026 Oscars, but did not win the award. In the past, the actor also played musician Elvis Presley in the biopic Priscilla, directed by Sofia Coppola.

This 2026 he also participated in the film adaptation of “Wuthering Heights” along with Margot Robbie. During the filming of this film, the actor suffered a second-degree burn on his back after accidentally leaning against the faucet of a steam shower.
