The singer Beyonce returned to the Met Gala after 10 years of absence and did so with her 14-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carterand her rapper husband Jay-Z. The teenager made her debut on the red carpet of this great wedding event despite the fact that the Met Gala rules prohibit the entry of minors.
Beyoncé returned to the event as co-chair of the edition held on May 4 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This year’s dress code technology “Vogue is Art work”, linked to the Costume Institute exhibition titled “Costume Art work”focused on the relationship between fashion and the visual arts.
The appearance of the Carter family took place almost towards the end of the night and was surprised by the appearance of Blue Ivy, who wore a white Balenciaga dress and dark sunglasses. The surprise it caused was not only because of its debut at this important fashion event, but also because of the rule prohibiting entry to those under 18 years of age.
This rule became known in 2018 after dancer Maddie Ziegler told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that she did not attend the Met Gala because she was not old enough.
The theme that year was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” and it was presumed that the age restriction was due to the theme. The organizers of the event declared to the media that it had nothing to do with the theme, but rather with an executive decision that considered that “it is not an appropriate event for those under 18 years of age.”
Beyoncé addressed her daughter’s styling while speaking with Vogue. “I think it looks incredible,” said the artist.
Another one who broke this rule was Sunday Rose, daughter of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban. Her mother was one of the hosts of the event and at her young age she has become a fashionable figure. According to HOLA! magazine, Lily-Rose Depp, Iris Law and Jaden Smith are some celebrities who also attended the MET Gala before turning 18 years old.
The Met Gala has several very specific rules. Some of them are that the use of cell phones is prohibited inside the museum, guests must avoid giving details about what happens at the event after the red carpet, the use of garlic and onion in dinner dishes is prohibited, and they must also try to follow the dress code. Of course, to attend the Met Gala you must be invited and pay for a ticket whose price ranges from $100,000, while the table costs $350,000.
