Two people died and three others were injured this Tuesday after a shooting in a shopping center in the city of Carrollton, north of Dallas, Texas, local authorities reported.
The police chief, Roberto Arredondo, indicated that the attack was not random, since the victims knew the aggressor. “We don’t know exactly what the meeting was about, but we understand that it was a business relationship.”he explained at a press conference, according to the AP agency.
The alleged perpetrator, identified as Seung Han Ho, 69, was arrested shortly after the incident at a supermarket located about six kilometers from the scene of the shooting.. As of now, no charges have been announced against him.
Operational and federal presence
The attack occurred at the Ok Towne Plaza shopping complex, located in an area known as Koreatown. Images spread on social media showed officers with weapons drawn as they secured the area.
FBI agents also participated in the operation, along with other federal authorities.
Carrollton, with about 130,000 residents, It is located about 32 kilometers north of Dallas and has a prominent community of Korean origin, according to AP.
According to the agency, In the last two decades the city has consolidated an active Korean commercial district, with supermarkets, restaurants and religious centers that have boosted its economic and cultural growth.
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing as authorities seek to clarify the exact circumstances of the attack.
