Billionaire Jeff Bezos would be looking to get rid of one of his most striking acquisitions: his huge luxury yacht valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. The reason, according to reports, is not economic, but practical.
A $500 million yacht that is difficult to handle
According to information released by Web page Six, Bezos would be discreetly offering his yacht ‘Koru’, a vessel valued at approximately $500 million, because its size makes it complicated to operate.
The yacht, 417 feet long, is one of the largest sailboats in the world. Added to this is its support ship, ‘Abeona’, valued at $75 million, although it has not been confirmed if it is also part of the possible sale.
Operating both vessels has an annual cost close to $30 millionwhich could limit the number of interested buyers.
Problems due to its size
The size of the yacht has generated several logistical problems. In 2025, the boat could not dock in Monaco during the Grand Prix due to its dimensions.
He also faced restrictions in other places, such as the Everglades in Florida, where he could not enter and had to remain in areas near industrial ships.
Even during Bezos’ wedding to Lauren Sanchez in Venice, the yacht was unable to get close to certain areas, forcing adjustments to the celebrations.
A striking and highly recognized design
‘Koru’ not only stands out for its size, but also for its details. On the bow it has a wooden sculpture inspired by Lauren Sánchez in the shape of a mermaid.
In addition, the yacht includes security systems such as water cannons, designed to deter pirates, although they could also serve to keep photographers at a distance.
Extreme luxury on board
The boat has multiple amenities, including:
–Glass bottom pool
–Three jacuzzis
-Heliport
–Capacity for 18 guests
–Crew of 36 people
Bezos and Sánchez have toured the world on this yacht, accompanied by celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry and Usher.
A project that had already caused controversy
The construction of the yacht also generated controversy in 2022, when it was proposed to dismantle a historic bridge in Rotterdam to allow its passage.
After protests, the boat was moved without masts to avoid damage to the structure.
No official confirmation
So far, there have been no official comments from Bezos representatives about the possible sale.
