WASHINGTON – The judge apologized to Cole Allen this Monday, accused of trying to assassinate the president of the United States, Donald Trump, during the White House Correspondents’ Dinnerfor the harsh conditions to which he was subjected in prisonsince he spent several days in a isolation cell despite the complaints of his lawyers.

Although Allen was transferred this weekend to another cellthe judge of the District of Columbia Zia Faruqui decided to hold a court hearing this Monday to examine the conditions of confinement in which he had been.

“I’m sorry. Whatever happened, I apologize.”declared the judge, according to local media such as CNN, who were at the hearing, in which cameras were not allowed.

Faruqui also compared the harshness of Allen’s confinement with that of those accused of storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021who were locked up in that same prison until Trump granted them a pardon, and assured that the conditions of the latter were less severe.

“Pardons can erase convictions, but they do not erase history,” he said.

Allen, 31, living in California, He has been locked up since his arrest in a padded cell at the Washington prison. with permanent light and full isolation, under continuous surveillance to prevent suicide, with strict movement restrictions and no access to a telephone.

Allen was arrested on April 26 after defying a security wait on watch over and trying to break in, armed with a shotgun, a pistol and several knives, in the lounge of a Washington hotel where the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was held, with Trump present; the first lady, Melania Trump; Vice President, JD Vance; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson; and other authorities.

His attempt sparked a shootout with security agents which left no victims, but forced the president to evacuate.

Allen, who left in writing that his target was members of the Trump Administrationis accused of attempting to assassinate the president, a crime that can carry a life sentenceand two charges related to the use of weapons.
