The singers Maluma and Rauw Alejandro They represented Latin America at the MET Gala 2026. The Colombian and the Puerto Rican dazzled on the red carpet with Haute Couture looks in line with this year’s dress code.
The dress code for the 2026 edition of the MET Gala is “Fashion is art” (Model is Art), which is related to the Costume Institute exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art named “Costume Art”which features some 200 fashion pieces linked to works of art, highlighting fashion as a creative canvas.
Colombian singer Maluma wore a Tom Ford outfit, which consisted of a tailored black suit with shiny lapels on the jacket. The artist wore a ring and an earring from the Bvlgari brand.
Rauw Alejandro wore a black suit, with a leather jacket with voluminous shoulders in the style of the 80s and tied at the front, completely from the haute couture brand Yves Saint Laurent. In addition, she wore a Chopard watch and facial jewelry from Yaaqee Studio.
This year the presence of Latinos at the MET Gala is reduced, compared to other years. Artists like Shakira, Rosalía and Salma Hayek were not present on the MET Gala red carpet. Shakira, for example, is in the middle of her tour and on Saturday she performed at a massive free concert on Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro.
Other Latin artists and celebrities who were at the MET Gala 2026 were the model with Argentine roots Camila Morrone, who wore an outfit by Tory Burch, and Camila Mendes, with Brazilian roots.
The MET Gala is traditionally held at the Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on the first Monday of the year.
Hundreds of celebrities, politicians, athletes and public figures gather at the MET Gala, considered the “Huge Bowl of Fashion.” This is a fundraiser for the Costume Institute. Each year the red carpet is inspired by a theme, related to the Costume Institute exhibition. Attendees must explore the creativity of their outfits, get inspired and interpret the MET Gala dress code with the designers. Some are famous for getting their looks right every year, as is the case with Zendaya, Heidi Klum, Blake Active, Janelle Monaé, Despicable Bunny and many others.
“Fashion is art” (Model is Art), the theme with the objective that attendees explore with their outfits the connection between the clothed body and artistic creation. That’s why attendees wear outfits with references to pieces of art, periods of art, or famous artists.
