The New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office and the DEA announced the seizure of an important stash of drugs in the Bronx, a few blocks from Yankee Stadium, as part of an operation that led to the arrest of two men.
During a court-authorized search of Apartment 2 at 69 West 164th Street, agents discovered approximately 2.5 kilograms of cocaine, ketamine and MDMA, approximately 30 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms and more than 100 pounds of marijuana, as well as $85,000 dollars in cash.
The accused, Eduardo Ramírez Salinas and Jonathan Franco, They were arrested on initial charges of first- and third-degree legal possession of controlled substances, and additional charges are expected.
Franco has a bond of $25,000, while Salinas was released under supervision.
Authorities indicated that the defendants had converted the home into a drug storage and distribution center. The researchers found marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms at a glance, while large quantities of cocaine, ketamine and MDMA (ecstasy) were hidden in closets and an office inside the apartment.
The $85,000 in cash was found stacked on a desk next to a bill-counting machine.
“It’s alarming”
Bridget Brennan New York special narcotics prosecutor said: “It is alarming to recover tens of thousands of dollars worth of cocaine, ketamine and other illegal drugs in a residential neighborhood near Yankee Stadium. “We will continue working to stop the flow of dangerous narcotics into our communities.”
Christopher Roberts, special agent in charge of the DEA in New York, noted that the operation dismantled another polydrug network that operated in the area, while the New York police commissioner, Jessica Tisch, stressed that These types of networks have no place in the city.
