By Sarahí Gómez Esaa

This May 4th the great fashion event takes place: the MET Gala 2026. This year’s official dress code is “Fashion is art” (Vogue is Art), with the aim that attendees explore with their outfits the connection between the clothed body and artistic creation.

Traditionally, the dress code aligns with the spring exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Dress Institute in New York. This year the exhibition is called “Costume Art”, which features some 200 fashion pieces linked to works of art, highlighting fashion as a creative canvas.

The MET Gala has become an exclusive charity event to raise funds for the Costume Institute. Attendees are part of an exclusive guest list, carefully curated by Anna Wintour, the Met Gala’s primary chair and organizer since 1995 and global editorial director of Vogue.

Individual tickets cost $100,000, and a table for 10 starts at $350,000. In total there will be approximately 400 guests.

This event is also an important opportunity for Haute Couture brands to showcase their designs in accordance with the MET Gala dress code.

This year’s co-hosts are Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams, while the key sponsor is billionaire Jef Bezos, founder of Amazon, and his wife Lauren Sánchez.
