In 2006, “The Devil Wears Prada” grossed $27.5 million in the United States during its opening weekend. At that time it was not yet known that it would become a pop culture reference nor was it aspired to. release a second part in 20 years that managed to raise $77 million dollars in just three days.
Although it has surpassed his first film, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” failed to position itself as the best premiere of the year but went on to occupy fourth place on the list, behind “Michael” which reached $97.5 million dollars, “Trim Mario Galaxy: The Movie” with $131 million dollars and “Venture Hail Mary” which grossed $80 million dollars.
Outside the United States, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” grossed $156.6 millionwhich gives a total of $233.6 million in worldwide collection.
This figure reached during its first weekend on the billboard and exceeds the $100 million invested by Disney’s 20th Century Studios to produce the film. Likewise, it must be considered that a lot more money was invested in the advertising strategy, which has included alliances with many brands and a tour of several cities around the world.
This sequel managed to reunite the usual cast: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. The direction and script were also carried out by the customary team: David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna.
Just as the figure raised at the box office by this sequel is higher, so is the figure invested for its production, since only $40 million dollars were needed for the first film.
