The soft drink market in the United States continues to be dominated by classic brands, although consumer habits are changing. Despite a gradual decline in consumption, some beverages continue to clearly lead the consumer preferences.
Coca-Cola remains in first place
According to a Beverage Digest report, reported by the Atlanta Journal-Structure, Coca-Cola will lead the carbonated soda market in 2025 with an 18.5% share.
Although its sales volume fell 5.3% that year, the brand maintained its leadership.
Additionally, surveys indicate that nearly 60% of consumers in the US prefer Coca-Cola as their essential soft drink.
This dominance is attributed, in part, to its extensive global distribution network and decades of marketing strategies that have positioned the brand as synonymous with soft drink.
This is how other brands remain in the rating
Behind the leader, the rest of the market shows more variations:
–Dr Pepper establishes itself as second place
–Pepsi managed to climb to third place in 2025, after having fallen to fourth the previous year.
–Diet Coke was in fourth position.
–Sprite fell to fifth place, after registering a 3% drop in its sales volume between 2024 and 2025.
A relevant fact is that the Coca-Cola company controls three of the five most popular brands, which reinforces its dominance within the sector.
A market in transformation
Despite these leaderships, the industry faces a downward trend. More and more consumers are choosing to reduce their soft drink consumption due to health concerns, which has led to a sustained decline in sales.
In response, companies have begun to diversify their offerings. Coca-Cola, for example, has launched products such as prebiotic soft drinks to adapt to new preferences, although these changes have not been enough to completely reverse the trend.
