A man in North Carolina turned a non-public tradition into a million-dollar windfall. By always using the same combination of numbers inspired by her sonended up winning a lottery prize that will change his financial situation.

A habit that paid off

Randleman resident Bryan McMasters decided to enter the April 23 Cash 5 drawing using, as usual, his son’s birthday.

That decision led to him winning a jackpot of $341,844, the North Carolina Education Lottery reported.

The ticket was purchased online and contained the same combination that the player has used repeatedly in previous draws.

He recognized the numbers instantly

McMasters explained that it didn’t take him long to realize what had happened when he reviewed the results.

“I use my son’s birthday,” he said. “It was surreal. I saw the numbers and knew I had won.”

What will you do with the money

The prize not only represents an immediate economic improvement, but also the opportunity to fulfill some personal plans.

The winner noted that he will use the money to pay outstanding debts and also to take his son on a cruise vacation.

“I can finally relax,” he said.

A stroke of luck with non-public meaning

Stories like McMasters’ reflect how many players turn to important dates to choose their numbers, a strategy that in this case ended with a truly wide prize of more than $340,000.
