President Donald Trump demanded this Sunday that the construction of the controversial high-security ballroom on the grounds of the White House be accelerated, a request that arises after the appearance of an armed man during the Correspondents’ Association dinner.
Through his social network, Truth Social, the president linked the recent attack with the need to complete this 8,000 square meter space, arguing that having an armored facility within the presidential perimeter would have avoided the risk faced at the Washington Hilton Hotel.
“What happened last night is exactly why our great military, Secret Service and law enforcement have been demanding that a large, secure ballroom be built on the White House grounds,” the president said.

Honest and technical situation of the ballroom
The project, valued at $400 million, has been paralyzed since March by order of federal judge Richard Leon. The precautionary measure responds to a lawsuit due to lack of approval from Congress, after the demolition of the East Wing in October 2025, EFE reported.
Trump criticized the legal dispute, pointing out that “the ridiculous lawsuit against the dance hall, filed by a woman who was walking her dog and which has no standing, must be dismissed immediately.” According to the Executive, the structure is “top military secret” and its design prevents “unauthorized people from leaking.”
Background of suspect Cole Tomas Allen
The presidential claim refers to Cole Tomas Allen, 31, who shot at the bulletproof vest of a Secret Service agent. Allen was a guest at the resort where the gala was held, a factor that the president used to insist on the vulnerability of external venues.
“This event would never have happened with the top-secret ballroom currently being built at the White House. It can’t be built fast enough!” Trump concluded, also ensuring that the work remains “under budget and substantially ahead of schedule.”
