Iran stated this Saturday that the United States must choose between diplomacy or confrontation after Tehran on Thursday presented a new proposal to permanently end the war, which the US president donald trump rated as unsatisfactory.

“Now the ball is in the court of the United States, which must choose between the path of diplomacy or the continuity of a strategy based on confrontation,” said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi during a meeting in Tehran with several foreign ambassadors, to whom he explained the details of the recent Iranian proposal, according to the Mehr agency.

Iran “is ready”

Gharibabadi said that Iran submitted its proposal to Pakistan as a mediating country in the peace negotiations with the United States and assured that Tehran, while continuing betting on a diplomatic solution to the conflict, remains fully prepared to respond to any new US-Israeli aggression.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, with the aim of guaranteeing its interests and national security, “It is prepared for both routes,” he pointed out.

Gharibabadi added, however, that Tehran maintains its distrust of Washington and questioned American sincerity in the negotiating process.

The statements come at a time of stagnation in peace negotiations, after the US president stated that The last Iranian proposal was not satisfactory.

According to American media, Iran has offered a definitive end to the war and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for lifting the US siege on Iranian ports and ships, while postponing the nuclear negotiation to a later phase.

Iran and the United States held a high-level meeting in Islamabad on April 11 and 12, but They did not reach an agreement to end the conflict that began on February 28, currently suspended under an extended truce to facilitate talks.
