A few days ago the retired actor Ian Somerhalder participated in the Enormous apple Seaside Beverage Forum and he gave an interview in which he talked about the reason that led him to retire and about the financial crisis he went through.
Somerhalder became known for be part of the cast of sequences like “Misplaced” and “The Vampire Diaries”but despite his steady job as an actor, he wanted to make investments and start a career as a businessman. His first attempts failed and left him thousands of dollars in debt.
In statements he gave to E! News confessed: “I abandoned an incredibly lucrative career in television after a financial setback caused by a business I didn’t run properly. And because of fraud, my wife and I were up to our eyeballs in debt.”
Somerhalder retired from acting seven years ago. and he had to share the crisis with Nikki Reed, with whom he has been a couple since 2015. Redd is an actress and screenwriter known for having played Rosalie Hale in the “Twilight” saga.
He recognizes the help his wife gave him to overcome that financial crisis: “She negotiated very well to get us out of that predicament, but we sold houses, paintings, cars, watches, everything“he told E! News.
This is not the first time Somerhalder has spoken about this moment in his life and about the role Reed played throughout that time. She even made a post on Instagram a while ago in which she said: “This woman decided that she did not want to see her husband ruin physically, mentally and spiritually, so she got to work and formed a team to get to the negotiating table and find a solution.”
For now, Somerhalder has not considered returning to acting and when he retired he even expressed that his time as an actor was already over. However, his work is still available in the famous sequences in which he acted.
