The company Ghirardelli Chocolate Company recently announced the voluntary retirement of several lots of 13 products from its line of powdered drink mixes (specifically frappes and cocoa powder) due to a possible salmonella risk.

According to the company’s official statement, the measure was taken preventively after its supplier, California Dairies Inc.will initiate a withdrawal of powdered milk out of concern for possible microbiological contamination. The milk It is a basic ingredient in these drink mixes.

The varieties that have the highest number of committed lots are:

  • Chocolate Flavored Frappé (30 lb): Lots S195260A03, S195261A03, S291260A03, S295260A03, S596260A03, S191260A03 and S291261A03.
  • Top rate Hot Chocolate (4/2 lb Bags): Lots S550250A04, S149250A04, S249250A04, S349250A04, S449250A04 and S549250A04.

The company clarifies that, although the majority of the affected mixtures are distributed in large formats for food services and institutional clientsit is not ruled out that some units are available for online shopping. Therefore, consumers are urged to verify batch information in their packaging.
