Last Tuesday, the actress Insurgent Wilson testified before a Federal Court in Sydney, Australia, and during his participation he claimed not to have defamed Charlotte MacInneswho was an actress in the film “The Deb” (2024), with which Wilson made her directorial debut.
MacInnes was the protagonist of “The Deb” and accuses Wilson of having defamed her and of covering up inappropriate behavior by Amanda Ghostwho was a producer of the same film. The actress also alleges that Wilson was part of a cyberattack plan that ended in the leak of a nude photo of her.
Wilson has always denied having been part of this alleged cyberattack and also adds that “If you look back at my 25-year career, you will see a lot of evidence of my support for women.”
What the Australian actress and director does not deny is that at the time MacInnes did talk to him about Ghost’s behaviorwhich he described as “strange” and “unusual.” He explains that he supposedly spoke to her about it long after it happened.
Wilson even claims that MacInnes retracted these accusations because he did not want to harm the producer’s career.
It must be remembered that “The Deb” premiered in 2024 and is based on a musical of the same name. In fiction, MacInnes plays the cousin of a young country girl marginalized by her high school classmates who wants to change her life and reinvent herself.
For now, the trial has not ended and Wilson is expected to have to appear in court again.
