The figure represents an increase of 15% compared to previous editions and will be distributed among the Forty eight federations qualified for the tournament. The amount greatly exceeds $727 million dollars initially announced in December.

Why did FIFA increase the 2026 World Cup rewards?

National federations expressed concern about the increase in operating costs to participate in the tournament to be held in Canada, Mexico and USA from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

Now, the new scheme includes direct increases on three key fronts. The readiness grant increases from $1.5 to $2.5 million per team.

The classification prize goes from nine to $10 million. In addition, additional contributions exceeding $16 million are added to cover logistical costs of delegations and expand the allocation of tickets for each team.
