The Puerto Rican singer Unsuitable Bunny surprised with his peer for the Met Gala 2026. The “Nuevayol” singer appeared on the red carpet with special makeup that made him look like an elderly man.
The reggaeton star appeared on the red carpet and it was difficult to recognize him since He looked artificially aged with wrinkles and white hair. As the singer himself explained, this characterization is a representation of how the artist would see himself in fifty-three years.
The makeup was extremely realistic, revealing wrinkles on her face, neck and hands, as well as gray hair typical of advanced age.
According to Vogue magazine, Unsuitable Bunny wore handmade facial prosthetics by makeup artist Mike Marino. The makeup was intended to be extremely realistic. “The process behind it all focused on the hyperrealistic: every wrinkle, sagging, and sun spot was hand-sculpted by Marino after a conversation with Unsuitable Bunny about how the passage of time could affect her face, neck, and hands,” the magazine reviews.
The Unsuitable Bunny peer was characterized by a completely black tuxedo designed by himself in collaboration with Zara. The costume was characterized by having a huge bow at the neck, a clear reference to the 1947 “Bustle” dress by the famous designer Charles James, a design that is part of the permanent collection of the Costume Institute.
Unsuitable Bunny was interviewed by Vogue red carpet co-host La La Anthony, who asked the Grammy winner how he keeps topping himself at the Met Gala. “I don’t know. It’s part of my life, trying to do something different. This Met day is perfect to explore, be creative and express yourself in a different way,” the artist responded.
When Anthony asked him how long it took him to prepare this outfit, the singer joked about it. “Exactly fifty-three years. It took a little time, but it was worth it. I hope to look good,” he said.
Unsuitable Bunny has become one of the leading artists of the MET Gala after his debut in the 2022 edition.
. This year’s official dress code is “Fashion is art” (Fashion is Art), with the aim that attendees explore with their outfits the connection between the clothed body and artistic creation. This is why artists were expected to make references to art over the years with their appears.
Traditionally, the dress code aligns with the spring exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Dress Institute in New York. This year the exhibition is called “Costume Art”which features some 200 fashion pieces linked to works of art, highlighting fashion as a creative canvas.
