After a year of leaking images from the filming of “The Devil Wears Prada 2”, the sequel to one of the most iconic films of this century has premiered in movie theaters. As expected, this film is leading the numbers at the box office.
On its opening Friday, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” grossed $32.5 million in 4,150 theaters in North America. What is expected is that at the end of the weekend it will end with a collection of between $75 million dollars and $90 million dollars.
So far, good comments have been shared on social media about the sequel, which arrives just 20 years after the premiere of its first part. “The Devil Wears Prada” is considered an icon of vogue culture, so there were doubts about what a second part would be like.
The positive thing is that the sequel was directed by the same director and screenwriter: David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna. The usual cast was also reunited: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
While “The Devil Wears Prada 2” premieres leading the box office, “Michael” numbers have fallen and put the biopic in second place from the list. It is reported that during its second Friday on the billboard it only managed to raise $14.4 million dollars in the United States.
Third place is occupied by “Tall Mario Galaxy”.
In addition to “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” movie theaters received this weekend the animated adaptation of “Animal Farm”based on the novel by George Orwell published in 1945. This Angel Studios film did not do well in numbers and only managed to position itself at number six on the list of highest-grossing films.
