Cuban authorities confirmed their decision not to discuss internal reforms with the United States, despite the increase in diplomatic and military pressure from President Donald Trump.This was confirmed by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez during a meeting with union members and officials on the occasion of Workers’ Day.

“It is not part of that exchange, it is not part of it in any way, the political and economic order of Cuba. No internal matter of our people or our revolution is part of conversations with the United States,” Rodríguez declared.

Likewise, the chancellor insisted that issues of national sovereignty are left out of any bilateral dialogue table, and reiterated that they will “never” discuss with the United States. matters that are related to the “sovereignty, independence and self-determination of Cubans”reported EFE.

Warnings against possible military action

The Cuban position after President Donald Trump affirmed that he will “take control” of Cuba after concluding his objectives in Iran. In response, Rodríguez called not to underestimate the ability of the island’s population to react to foreign aggression, and described any attempt at intervention as a “strategic error.”

“Cuba would be a hornet’s nest. Cuba would be a death trap. Cuba would be the scene of the war of all the people if US imperialism dared to attack us,” predicted the head of Cuban diplomacy. “Cuba defends itself, it defends itself with ideas and it will defend itself with weapons.”

However, he assured that his country acts with “responsibility” and He hopes that “common sense” will prevail to avoid an armed conflict.

Tightening of sanctions and energy crisis

The tension has been aggravated by a new executive order from Washington that extends sanctions to any entity, even outside the United States, that maintains commercial ties with the island in areas of security, energy, finance and defense.

This strategy has worsened the energy crisis in Cuba, where the oil blockade that began in January has limited the entry of fuelleading to massive blackouts and widespread economic paralysis.
