There are 41 days left until the 2026 World Cup and several World Cup stars have fallen due to injuries, something that the teams want to avoid with the cup so close.

Below is a list of six world football stars who will not be in the 2026 World Cup:

Rodrygo (Brazil)

The Brazilian striker for Proper Madrid suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a torn external meniscus in his right knee in the match against Getafe on March 2, which will keep him off the field for several months.

The day after his injury, just 100 days before the start of the World Cup, it was confirmed that Rodrygo will be out of the Canarinha.

Military (Brazil)

Center back Éder Militão, of Proper Madrid, underwent surgery on Tuesday in Finland to rupture a tendon in his left femoral biceps and will miss the World Cup. The injury corresponds to a relapse in a previously affected area, which would keep him off the field for four to five months.

Luis Malagón (Mexico)

Luis Malagón, goalkeeper for América and the Mexican national team, suffered an injury to the Achilles tendon in his left leg on March 10 during the first leg of the round of 16 of the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup against Philadelphia Union. He underwent surgery and will be out of action for six to eight months.

Hugo Ekitike (France)

The Liverpool striker suffered an injury to the Achilles tendon in his right foot while playing in the second leg of the Champions League against PSG. He was injured in the 31st minute of that match, underwent surgery in London and will be out of the field for 9 months.

Serge Gnabry (Germany)

The Bayern Munich midfielder announced on April 22 that he will miss the World Cup due to an injury to the adductor in his right leg that will keep him out of the field for 3 to 4 months. “As for the dream of playing in the World Cup with the national team, I have to say that unfortunately it is over for me,” said the player.

Jack Grealish (England)

Striker Jack Grealish suffered a stress fracture in his left foot on January 18 while playing for Everton against Aston Villa in the Premier League. The Englishman underwent surgery on February 9 and will miss the remainder of the season and the World Cup.
