Guillermo Ochoa recognizes that his last days as a goalkeeper in professional football are near and may come after the 2026 World Cup with the Mexico team.

Ochoa, who will turn 40 during the 2026 World Cup, will seek his sixth participation in a World Cup, a record in the history of the tournament.

“Memo” Ochoa spoke, during an interview with the TUDN network, that he knows that his departure from the national team after the World Cup is a fact and that retirement is also a great possibility.

“Retiring is undoubtedly difficult, but in my case it will not be so hard because I have enjoyed it for many years, for a long time,” Ochoa told the network. “There comes a time when the mind and body say, ‘You’ve given it your all,’ and you walk away in peace, and that will be the case for me.”

Javier Aguirre, coach of the Mexican team, has called him up in recent calls, although he has repeated on multiple occasions that there are no safe positions in the Tri goal.

Ochoa is currently one of four Mexicans who have participated in five World Cups, along with Antonio Carbajal, Rafael Márquez and Andrés Guardado.

Trump gives the green light to Infantino for Iran to travel to the US for the 2026 World Cup

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, assured this Thursday that the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, told him that he could decide whatever he wanted about allowing or not allowing the Iran team to enter the country to compete in the 2026 World Cup.

“Gianni (Infantino) is fantastic. He’s a friend of mine, and we talked about it; he told me: ‘Do what you want.’ You can accept them. You may not accept each other. You don’t have to have them (in the country),’” Trump said at an event held at the White House.

The Republican responded in this way when being informed that, a few hours earlier, Infantino had confirmed that, despite the war started by the US. against the Islamic Republic in February, Iran will take part in the World Cup.

“Well, if Gianni has decided, then that’s fine with me,” he said upon learning of the announcement made today at the 76th FIFA Congress held in the Canadian city of Vancouver.
