The New York Mets will continue with Carlos Mendoza at the helm of the team, despite having the worst record in the league, according to David Stearns, operations manager.

Stearns stated that he does not see the Mets’ problem as a management issue and they will not change him, although they know they will turn the situation around soon.

“We know our record is not what we want, and we know we are capable of more,” Stearns told MLB.com. “We don’t consider this to be a manager’s problem, and we have no intention of making any changes.”

The Mets will continue with confidence in Mendoza, despite having a record of 10 wins and 21 losses, the worst of all the Majors. This is the third-worst start in franchise history, but both Steve Cohen and Stearns will maintain faith in Mendoza.

The Metropolitan team has suffered delicate losses such as the injuries of Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor and Jorge Polanco. This has led to an offense that ranks among the worst in the league in many important statistical categories, including 29th in runs scored.

Carlos Mendoza will have one of the most difficult tasks because no team has ever lost 12 consecutive games and has made it to the playoffs; However, the sample size remains minuscule since MLB expanded to 14 teams in the playoffs in 2022.

Mets begin 9-game road trip to get out of losing streak

The Mets begin, starting this Friday, a nine-game road trip beginning with three games against the Los Angeles Angels.

They will then travel to Colorado for three games against the Rockies and close with three straight games against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Mendoza, 46, is in the final guaranteed season of the three-year contract he signed to become Mets manager before the 2024 season.

The Mets have a 2027 club option on him. He has a record of 182 wins and 173 losses in three seasons as manager.
