Led by a dominant start from Nathan Eovaldi and the timely hitting of Josh Jung, the Texas Rangers blanked the Contemporary York Yankees 3-0 this Wednesday, managing to rescue the last game of the series and stop the winning streak of the American League leader.

Eovaldi (3-4) redeemed himself from his last outing (where he allowed four home runs) by signing a gem of seven innings in which he only gave up four hits. The right-hander struck out seven batters and walked just one. using 102 pitches (70 in the strike zone) to disarm the most powerful offense on the circuit. Jacob Latz completed the job by pitching the final two innings to earn his second save of the season.

The Texas offense took advantage of the debut of the Yankees’ star prospect, Elmer Rodríguez (0-1). In the fifth inning, with the bases loaded, Josh Jung hit a solid grounder to the left side that brought two runs to the plate, breaking the initial tie.

Sam Haggerty extended the lead in the seventh with an RBI single. Haggerty had to enter the game after the departure of Brandon Nimmo, who left the field due to tightness in his right hamstring.

Frustration in the Bronx

The Yankees (20-11), who arrived with 10 wins in their last 11 games, they suffered only their second shutout of the season. The frustration was evident in the visiting dugout, highlighting the gesture of Jazz Chisholm Jr., who crashed his helmet against the bench after failing in the ninth inning.

Debutant Elmer Rodríguez showed flashes of his talent by striking out three and getting out of trouble with bases loaded in the first innings, but the four walks issued ended up taking their toll on him in the fifth inning.
