The response to the attempt by an armed individual who broke into a banquet hall of the Hilton hotel where President Donald Trump was and many Washington power figures It has been, until then, the perfect excuse to pressure and obtain more measures in favor of the government.
More funds for the Republican president’s project to build a ballroom in the White House, at a cost of $400 million. Mutual finger-pointing continues in two-month dispute over stagnant Department of Homeland Security funding (DHS), Zach C. Cohen reported.
Much of the attention has focused on the most striking element, the grand ballroom that Trump has proposed for months as an addition to the White House.
In addition, Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rand Paul said he would push for congressional authorization to put an end to litigation delaying the ballroom’s opening.. The administration cited Saturday’s incident in asking a judge to close the case.
For his part, Senator Lindsey Graham, one of Trump’s most trusted spokespersons, went further, arguing that not only should construction of the ballroom go ahead, but that it should be paid for with customs duties, and not with private money that Trump has already raised, according to Lillianna Byington.
Graham, who heads the Senate Budget Committee, told reporters that the public should pay most of the cost of the ballroom. and that private donations should be used “to buy tableware and the like.”
The structure in question would have bulletproof windows and a secure bunker. However, there’s little chance it would have done any good over the weekend, Jeff Mason said.
“If built, the ballroom would be used for state dinners and other presidential events hosted by the White House, not outside organizations.”
According to Steven T. Dennis, current plans do not include enough capacity for the more than 2,000 people who attended the dinner, Bloomberg reported.
Perhaps more substantially, all sides returned to the debate over DHS, which includes the Secret Service and has been closed for more than 70 days.
“If Republicans really want to improve security, they should join Democrats in funding the Secret Service, not Donald Trump’s lavish ballroom.“said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
The big problem for Republicans is that, although Senate Democrats began the race by demanding changes to the Immigration Service’s (ICE) and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) border policies, House Republicans, in a strange strategic maneuver, have seized the government shutdown.
They have twice refused to debate a financing bill that was approved unanimously in the Senate. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, declared that he wants to make more adjustments to the opinion. However, he is currently having trouble pushing any bill through.
Patience has been wearing thin, even among other Republicans.
John Curtis, a Republican senator, told Zack that it is time for the House to vote on the Senate’s opinion. “You can’t take risks” with “the president’s security.”
In this sense, Trump issued a call for “FAST and FOCUSED” action to fund ICE and border patrol at DHS.
The Radical Left Democrats hold saved DHS shut down since February 14th. Our Gigantic Speaker, Mike Johnson, is working exhausting to the entire Democrat Shut Down, and bolt the main step of an opinion to score FULL FUNDING for our not in all probability ICE and Border Patrol Brokers. We desire all Republicans… pic.twitter.com/s7128z2YVh
